This could be you in no time at all... Do you want to fly high and have fun?

Before you decide to join it is important to note that the ATC is not a recruiting organisation for the Royal Air Force or any of the other services, however your cadet service will prove very beneficial should you wish to pursue a career in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.

Will I fit in?
Simply put - Yes! The ATC is full of so many different, vibrant, enthusiastic personalities that you are bound to fit in. Regardless of gender, ethnic background, nationality or ability there is a place for anyone who wants to be part of something special. The training and experiences you will receive in the ATC will transform you as a person and will provide you with a very impressive set of skills any potential employer would be pleased to see! Many cadets find themselves making like-minded friends for life.

How old do I need to be to join?
Minimum age to be enrolled is 13 years old. Maximum age for entry is 17 years old. So if you're between 13 and 17 and have a thirst for challenge, adventure and the opportunity to fly high come and pay us a visit!

What do you do on Parade nights?
Our range of activities varies tremendously. You could be planning night exercises, leading your group of cadets to victory and winning flight points, shooting, swimming, bowling and even earning additional qualifications (BTECs) just for doing the activities that you enjoy.

As we are a uniformed youth organisation, a good level of Discipline & Drill are required to keep our standards high. You'll find yourself naturally taking pride in your appearance and your uniform (which we supply). We aim, in every cadet, to foster good self discipline and good mannerisms. The ATC is an organisation of which you can be very proud of.

What other activities can I get involved in away from the Squadron?
Activities away from the Squadron can involve anything from a weekend on the shooting range honing your target practise skills to a week long camp in Gibraltar, Germany or even Cyprus. Air Experience Flying sorties become available throughout the year and as a cadet you will have the opportunity to fly in the Grob Tutor and even get to enjoy the thrill of aerobatics!

There are many weekend courses and Annual Camps running throughout the year meaning you have every opportunity to enjoy every activity that the Air Training Corps has to offer.

If you're musically minded then we'd love to hear from you as our Squadron band may be of interest to you! In almost every activity there is plenty of potential to develop your skills, whether it be shooting, First Aid, Duke of Edinburgh's Award training, road marching, Drill (marching - which many cadets come to love!) and of course - flying and gliding. Once you reach the age of 16 and subject to the medical requirements you could be offered a gliding scholarship and potentially get your solo wings before you learn to drive!

This sounds great - How do I get involved?
Be sure to read all the different sections on our website and on the Air Cadets website to get a general idea of what we get up to. If you're still interested, then please get in touch, telling us a bit about yourself and why you want to 'get involved'.
