Seeking a new challenge? Want to develop your leadership skills and gain qualifications?
Then joining the ATC as an Adult volunteer might just be for you. If you've over 20, and want to be a part of transforming young people's lives then get in touch with us! Adult volunteers form the all important backbone of the Air Training Corps. We are always on the look out for determined, enthusiastic and high calibre individuals.
Do I need an special qualifications to join?
No, however if you do have any qualifications that may be particularly useful within the Corps then you are also warmly welcome to join us. We will give you all the training and guidance you need to inspire and lead the next generation of young people.
Do I have to go into uniform?
Generally, every adult volunteer who joins the Air Cadets starts off initially as a Civilian Instructor (CI). From there, depending on what qualities you have as an individual and what you wish to achieve in the Corps, you can either continue serving as a CI or go into uniform as a Commissioned Officer or Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO).
These routes are both richly rewarding and have different sets of responsiblities attached to them. SNCOs tend to be in charge of Drill & Discipline - which includes ensuring our cadets are always looking smart and presentable to making sure that the Squadron runs smoothly with good communication between staff and cadets.
Officers will often be in primary roles of management and administration. Good organisational and problem-solving skills and are key to being an effective Officer. You'll see yourself grow from the minute you put on your uniform. As an Officer, you have the potential to become a Squadron commander or even a Wing Commander in charge of around 30 squadrons and approximately 1,000 cadets!
This sounds great - How do I get involved?
Be sure to read all the different sections on our website and on the Air Cadets website to get a general idea of what we get up to. If you're still interested, then please get in touch, telling us a bit about yourself and why you want to 'get involved'.
